When you think about a brand name, a logo, a tagline, or the like, you’re mostly likely thinking about trademarks! A trademark is symbol, design, phrase, etc. that identifies your goods and services (a.k.a., your business). The best way to protect a trademark in the United States is through filing for a trademark registration. Here you’ll learn more about my approach and packages, and other things to keep in mind as you start this process.

In addition to the packages below, please note the current USPTO trademark fees, which are not included in my legal fees and are the client’s responsibility.
The current minimum USPTO application fee is $350 per application, which may increase depending on your application’s needs and the ways you are using your trademarks.

THE full picture
The most comprehensive approach to trademark filings is by working with an attorney to complete a search through a third-party vendor (to see if any other trademarks may conflict with yours), obtain an attorney’s guidance through an opinion letter, and then work with the attorney on your application. “The Full Picture” includes these services, as well as administrative (i.e., minor) office actions*.
$975, not including search fees. Search fees range between $500-$800 per trademark.
THE in-between
“The In-Between” is exactly what it sounds like - it’s the middle package. Using a tool that provides a “knock-out” search of your trademark, we can review potential conflicts with registration and determine whether an application makes sense.
$350 per trademark, with a search fee of $84. If you proceed with registration, my application fee will be $400 per application per the guidelines below.

Should you choose to proceed without conducting a search, my application-only package includes a preliminary search with the USPTO database, the application filing process, and responses to administrative (i.e., minor) office actions*.

*OFFICE ACTIONS
“Office Actions” are communications from the USPTO about your trademark application. These can be quick questions, ex: fixing errors, asking for small changes, etc. They can also require extensive legal research and drafting to overcome a potential refusal to registration (i.e., substantive office actions). Due to the nature of the project of responding to substantive office actions, my work on those matters is subject to my hourly rate ($250 / hour) and is not included in the above packages.
